Frozen shoulder web page

Posted by Moo on 28 Jul 2006 | Tagged as: web page

I have recently suffered with the symptoms of a frozen shoulder so decided I would put my experiences down on a web page (Frozen Shoulder) in the hope that it could help others in similar circumstances.

tomato and peas ready!

Posted by Moo on 23 Jul 2006 | Tagged as: Grow your own

Today I had my first tomato off the vine! Delicious!!! I had it in an omelette with some courgette (zucchini) off our own plants too. The other ingredients were what I had bought from the store!!

I also am eating peas off our own pea plants. However I know that there will never be  enough for a meal as I always eat them straight from the plant.. much the nicest way in my opinion!!!

index fixed!

Posted by Moo on 23 Jul 2006 | Tagged as: html

When I got up the morning following me messing up on my index page, the site was all fixed and working again. My daughter had sorted it out for me and put back the missing code that had somehow got deleted. She suggests maybe there was an error with the ftp when I was saving the changes I had made (I think she was just being kind and not laying the blame in my corner!!) Any how it is fixed and working well now but I have to admit that I now have a version of my index page on my notepad just incase I mess up again!!!

html and my index page

Posted by Moo on 22 Jul 2006 | Tagged as: Uncategorized, html

I was doing really great tonight. Or so I thought! I had just finished my new web page about Marigolds and went into my index page to add the correct html to get the page in the correct place..( plants… flowers.. marigolds.) I managed to do that successfully. However, in the doing of it I messed up the index page completely! I don’t know how I did it, but I lost a lot of what I had in html at the bottom of the index page. The outcome is, the page only loads the menu, but you cannot access the web pages at all.. BLANK. Hmmmm. I wish I knew the html code to get it back again and working correctly. However I don’t and have to wait for my lovely daughter to find time to put it all right for  me. (At the time of my messing up she is sleeping as it is coming into morning for her in the UK while it is night time for me in Canada.)

horse on the loose!

Posted by Moo on 21 Jul 2006 | Tagged as: farm

I was up early at 5am as I heard Buddy(one of the two horses that live on our farm) in the paddock racing up and down and making a commotion. Not his usual behaviour for this hour of the morning. So I went to investigate.

A neighbour was coming to meet me. He had got up because his dogs were making a commotion and he wanted to know why. Then he saw Sparky (the other horse) in the roadway near his house. So this neighbour grabbed a long stick and walked towards our paddocks and I guess Sparky walked ahead of him all the time. Apparently Sparky just walked himself right back into the paddock so all I had to do on arriving outside the paddock was close and secure the gate.

I guess the gate had not been secured properly last night and he had escaped. I did hear the dogs bark at 2am but they usually bark if the deer are nearby (which is often) so I really didn’t take much notice other than looking out the window but it was too dark to see anything.

I think his owners will be double checking in future tomake sure the gate is secure!

Music in the park…. take two!!

Posted by Moo on 20 Jul 2006 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

Wednesday evening and this week Music in the Park took place in the city park which is next to the river Kettle and next to the Municipal RV campsite. (For some reason it didnt happen last week) I would estimate that there were between fifty to a hundred people there, but there could also have been groups sitting further afield who were listening or people just strolling through the park.

We took our own chairs and settled ourselves on them on the grass in front of the stand where the musicians were to play, as did many others. Some had brought rugs to sit on.

We were entertained at first by a story teller who told and read stories for the children. Some children had their faces painted nearby. This was a nice beginning for the children.

Then we were entertained with country music from the group, who were mainly older folk. Added to this we had a couple of others who dropped by to play and sing to us.

The evening went well apart from one incident where the sprinklers started watering the grass and doused a few people before the park attendants were allerted and the water turned off!!! One brave soul put his foot over the sprinkler to stop those nearby getting drenched which worked but must have made his sandals very wet!!

I will be going next Wednesday, weather permitting and will see if we have the same musicians or another group.

harvest time: zucchini ready!

Posted by Moo on 16 Jul 2006 | Tagged as: Grow your own

The zucchini or courgettes as I call them are ready! At least some are each day!! I have already had two good feeds off them. The radish too are there ready to be pulled whenever we need them. I have eaten the raspberries off the bush that is beside the car-port with help from Bosun! (I didn’t know dogs liked raspberries!) The peas are fattening up nicely and the corn is growing taller daily. I still see no signs of the onions but the carrots are begining to grow (though whether we will get any big enough to eat is another matter!)
