Christmas time! The joy of giving and seeing the pleased excited expression on the other’s face! The joy of receiving and knowing that the person has put a lot of thought into the gift. The little gifts that show that the other has noticed things throughout the year, that maybe you enjoy gadgets, or puzzles or solving things; that you need new slippers or a hat or gloves; that you are “special” to them!
I must say that it was a joy to see both our dogs open their gifts this year. They weren’t costly but that is not the point of a gift. It is the thought that counts! The love that has gone into it! They were so delighted to receive each of their three gifts.. they played with them and ran off excitedly and brought them back; looked at each other’s gifts, swapped them, swapped back again! It was wonderful to see. They were just like excited children!
One gift ( a dog ball in the shape of a rugby ball ) lasted all of five minutes as the dogs decided to pull them apart, and since they were made of a polystyrene type material the bits ended up all over the floor. We had to discard them and divert the dogs’ attention while doing so! If we had thought about it, we would not have bought that particular ball, but another one! However, the thought was there and the brief joy on the dogs faces was worth seeing, though not long lasting!
That is what Christmas is all about. LOVE expressed through little gifts and/ or acts of thoughtfulness!

I have just finished watching the video “What the Bleep Do We Know” for the second time. It is very thought provoking. I have added a web page about it:
What the Bleep do we know Video
including the video itself, which lasts for one hour and 45 minutes. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I took Bo out first thing this morning for his walk around the farm, over the field and back again. I got excited as by our old little shed that used to house the pump for the well water I saw soem frozen celery. “ah! “I thought. “Growing wild. We had wild asparagus, now wild celery! I’ll come back later and take some photos of it and put it on my web!”
Later, this time fully awake, I went out with camera and took some pictures of it. It looked like mature celery with white leaves. “Strange” I thought. “And the wrong time of year!”. Then Bo the dog came and sniffed and lifted the celery stalk out of the ground and it was very obvious the celery had been cut with a knife at some time, and this was browned. Then the solution hit me!… The animals had moved it from the manure patch and into the field area. Maybe the wind had blown it and ‘planted’ it in the snow where it looked to me like it was growing!
Memo to myself: make sure you are FULLY AWAKE before making assumptions!
