D.I.Y. activities

I think Spring must be on it’s way or else I am just eager for it to be here! I say this because for the last four weeks I have been active in the house making clothes for myself.. a lined skirt, a top, and lined trousers. Also I got the urge to decorate so have stripped the wall-paper off the walls in our bedroom and have repaired the walls (the wall paper has been on so long it took some of the wall with it when it came off, leaving fuzzy pieces showing which needed dry-wall compound put on  it; also the strips that join the wall came off in places with the wall-paper too, making more work for me!). I have put the primer on the walls and now am waiting to buy the paint to paint the walls and surrounds (the shop was closed today, being Sunday and the other Home Hardware that was open does not carry the same paint that we have decided on).

The most difficult part has been choosing the colour to paint the walls! The rest was time consuming and rather laborious with all the repair work to do, and then the sanding down after! We chose the paint colours by logging on the the ColorLifesystem site and playing around with colours in their virtual room. Great fun especially since we were both choosing from different locations, ie. Grand Forks and Vancouver! Let’s hope the colours we have chosen are to our liking once they are on the walls!

Hair dressers

I don’t know if there are many people out there who feel as I do and are very reluctant to go to a new hairdressers the first time? I am always fearful that the haircut will be disastrous, that I will ahte the new look, that I will have to put up with it until it grows out again! So to me going to the hairdressers for the first time is like going to the dentist for others! Nerve wracking!

I usually have my hair cut in Oakridge Vancouver by a lovely Italian who looks on cutting hair as an art form. He pays wonderful attention to what he is doing, and even when you think he has finished to him he still has lots to do, cutting stray ends and making the hair even better. You always leave feelign like a million dollars!

Well this week I could wait no longer as I had already been hacking at my fringe over the last few weeks and was not all happy with the way my hair was. So I plucked up courage and went into Grand Forks and into a place that said “Walk ins welcome” and booked myself an appointment for that same day, which happened to be about three hours later. I am pleased to say that I had a wonderful hair cut, by a woman who takes her time to cut it just right and added that that if the hairstyle does not come up to expectations during the next seven days I can go back and she will correct what I don’t like! (I don’t need to as she has done a superb job!)  I am pleased with the results and will be going back to the same place next time!
