I guess it is that time of the year when allergies prevail. I know I have had itchy eyes and sneezing bouts for the last few weeks. However this last week I am coming up in lumps and bumps.
The first ones I noticed were at the back of my neck jsut above my hair line. I thought I must have been bitten by something, maybe an ant or a spider. They come up in big lumps and then are full of histamine which leaks.
Last night however, at bedtime, I noticed I had a lump by my left ear and another above my right eye. No sign of any bite marks there!
So I am wondering: Am I not drinking enough and am dehydrated?
Or am I overheating?
Or have I been bitten?
Or am I allergic to something.. maybe something I am touching in the garden or something I am eating?
Or am I allergic to the cream I have been using on my legs and arms? (It is a cheaper cream than I am normally using. I don’t however put it on my face although it is sold as face cream. I only use it on my very dry legs and my arms.)
PS I Have just come inside from an hour’s gardening and I feel as if I am “being eaten alive” around my neck! I am sure I have been bitten many times in this last hour as I have even more bumps on my neck, though by what I do not know! I have even tied my hair back with an elastic band to make it more comfortable around my neck, even though my hair is hardly long enough! Time might tell what is causing the bumps!!
PPS. It’s Friday night now as I am writing this (May 18) and I have just got back in after Snuggle’s yearly trip to have her injections. While at the vets I discovered that it is “Noceums”, little black fly creatures that have been biting me at my hairline! I mentioned that I had been bitten by something, and the assistant at the vets immediately knew what it was and that it would be my hairline where the biting had been going on. How very accurate she was! I looked them up on the internet and only found reference to them in the New Orleans district. Now I can add Grand Forks BC to the list!

I have been searching for a ping pong table ever since moving to the farm here in Grand Forks. At long last I have foudn one. Or rather, Bob, the owner of the local furniture store, “What about Bob’s” has found one for me! He has been on the lookout for me for a very long time and I was beginning to think he would not find one. After several months of not going into his shop, we went in on Saturday. “Any sign of any ping pong tables” I say. “yes,” says Bob. ” I’ve been waiting for you to come in to let you know I have one here”. Brilliant!
We pick it up on Monday!
I already have the bats and balls and netting as I bought them at least a year ago in anticipation of getting the table!!!

After wondering if it is going to be warm enough to swim in June, we have had a hail storm! It came yesterday afternoon. Suddenly the wind came up, it got colder, it started to rain and then hail! Within minutes the ground was white with hail stones and the hail was falling off the roof of the house and the cottage like it was big clumps of snow!
I noticed this morning that the mountains have a covering of white on them at their peaks… that must be the result of the hailstorm. It is noon now and that has all vanished. Today it is cold and very un-spring like!

During the month of April I added a web page for
Grand Forks Daily Weather record .
I was surprised when I got back from my UK travels that we were still having frosts (April 17th). However since that day I have recorded no frosts at all! However I shall continue the weather watch to see when we will be getting hotter! Two years ago we swam on June 1st (2005) at Christina Lake. I am wondering if it will be warm enough for that this year!
Also I have added 4 new book reviews for
and 2 new book reviews for
Non fiction books
I also added pages for
