I have a new web page. We recently got some new material for our dining room chairs. Although the chairs were only about two years old, the material on them was a cream color and had got stained with wine, paw prints, and from our work clothes when we would sit on the seats before changing our dirty clothes! The web page tells how we re-upholstered the chairs and also has a power point presentation with photos of the proceedure.
I have been finding it difficult to put photos on the site that are jsut little thumbs. So my way around it was putting the photos onto powerpoint, then uploading the power point presentation.

I was busy this evening adding a picture and updating the Rock Candy Mountain web page using PSPad when it crashed on me. This has happened before but unfortunately this time it lost half of my page for me, crashed my computer and left my web site not accessing the page at all!

After getting the laptop restarted (eventually!) I set about putting the photos back on the page and adding information that I remembered! Hence the page now looks different rock candy mountain  and does not contain quite the same information as before.

When I got up the morning following me messing up on my index page, the site was all fixed and working again. My daughter had sorted it out for me and put back the missing code that had somehow got deleted. She suggests maybe there was an error with the ftp when I was saving the changes I had made (I think she was just being kind and not laying the blame in my corner!!) Any how it is fixed and working well now but I have to admit that I now have a version of my index page on my notepad just incase I mess up again!!!

I was doing really great tonight. Or so I thought! I had just finished my new web page about Marigolds and went into my index page to add the correct html to get the page in the correct place..( plants… flowers.. marigolds.) I managed to do that successfully. However, in the doing of it I messed up the index page completely! I don’t know how I did it, but I lost a lot of what I had in html at the bottom of the index page. The outcome is, the page only loads the menu,but you cannot access the web pages at all.. BLANK. Hmmmm. I wish I knew the html code to get it back again and working correctly. However I don’t and have to wait for my lovely daughter to find time to put it all right for  me. (At the time of my messing up she is sleeping as it is coming into morning for her in the UK while it is night time for me in Canada.)

This last week I have learnt how to go into my manager and upload my own photos and make them into thumb prints. Also I rememebered what to do to make it so that when you click on the photos it will  make it bigger and open in a new window.

I tried all I could think of to add text. The only way I was able to save on the page was by deleting the links at the bottom of the page. Hence I THINK it is a SPACE problem. It looks like I have run out of space on the Bosun page and need to make him a second page!

Just as I thought I had this html worked out it seems I haven’t! I was adding to Bosun’s page on May 15th but it would not let me save it. It came up with an error message and then Bosun’s page would not load. Most frustrating! I deleted what I had written and it saved! I added more text and there was the error message again! I have looked at the page and it SEEMS to be written correctly, with the begining tag and the ending tag. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am sure my daughter will take a look when she has time and help me out (yet again!!!)

The site has got a new look thanks to my daughter. She has written the css coding for me and given the menu a new neater look. It is now much easier to find the different pages without having to scroll down to find what there is. Also she has given me a logo.

Once again I called on my daughter for help! I was adding Meta keywords to my web pages and updating them as I went along with the additional keywords  that I had made to the  pages. However I somehow messed up and the web page no longer loaded!! Help!!! My daughter rescued me, she at her computer in UK, me at mine in Canada. I had missed out a ” ; “. That was  all it was. I actually saw one there and deleted it because I knew it was in the wrong place. However I never replaced it again. Mistake! One little “;” made all the difference but it took my daughter to find and correct it for me! I know what to look for next time!

Thumbnails were added to my site today, thanks to my daughter in the UK for uploading them and teaching me how to add them to my page. She also taught me how to make it so that when  the thumbnails are clicked on they open in a new window of their own.
